Walk up the hill to the school and you will see the imposing
red brick of the original school 582 building built in 1888. The bell tower was
in use to call the children inside until 2002. Other classrooms have adjoined
the original building and the weather board portion was the Vite Vite school
transferred here in the 1960's when that school was closed. In 2003 the school
had 109 pupils. Look at the school

Other schools at Skipton were the first Denominational School under Miss
Elizabeth Blair, which had 20 pupils in 1858. Mrs. Martha Parsons ran a school
from the back room of her husband's boot making shop (number
6 on this walk), , and the Common School opened in Cleveland Street (number
11 on this walk) under Head Teacher Alexander Hart.
